The Rock Travel to Victoria BC

May 9, 2011 – In preparation for the Argentina Canada Provincial Challenge game against Salta Province (Argentina ) on Thursday May 19 The Rock will travel to Victoria, BC for a 5 day camp. They will stay at Shawnigan Lake School, Rugby Canada’s domestic training centre, and play Canada Selects on Friday May 13 in Shawnigan, followed by James Bay on Saturday May 14 in Victoria.

“The Salta game is a very important game for us because, as National Champions, we are representing Canada in the inaugural Argentina Canada Challenge. In addition to preparation for this game the game against Canada Selects will provide a venue for some of our players to make a case for their selection for the 2011 Rugby World Cup. The game against James Bay is attractive because they are celebrating their 125th anniversary and have traditionally been one of the top clubs in the country,” commented Pat Parfrey, Director of the Rock Program.

The starting team for the Canada Selects game will be:

Front Row: Frank Walsh, Owen Parfrey, Rod Snow
Second row: Brad Lester, Jebb Sinclair
Back row:  Chauncey O’Toole, Kevin Parfrey, Ken Goodland
Half backs: Sean White, Dean Blanks
Centres: Tyler Wish, Geoff Warden
Wings:  Robert Wilson, An other
Full back: Morgan Lovell.

The remaining members of the squad will all start against James Bay

Back row: Toni Wodzicki, Andy Nyenhuis, Justin Meyers
Half backs: Adam Paul, Simon Pacey
Backs: Jason Picco, Brent Rowney, Hosam Mobarak, Rob Turk.

Peter Densmore is injured as are scrum halves Morgan Williams and Rich O’Malley. Consequently Sean White, the BC scrumhalf, has agreed to be a guest player for The Rock. Also missing are Ciaran Hearn (Canada Sevens), Chris Burt (work), Patrick Parfrey (with Canada u20 team), and Zac Coughlan (with Atlantic u21 team).
